Nancy O'Dell's professional career started in Myrtle Beach South Carolina as a news reporter and anchor at WPDE-TV. She later became a morning news anchor as well as crime reporter for WCBD TV. O'Dell's stories in Charleston concerning the lack of leniency by police when it comes to DUI cases led to a State Law Enforcement Division to look into the matter. This led to states authorities enforcing more rigorous regulations in these cases. Ms. O'Dell was awarded the Best Report of the Media Award in South Carolina by the Associated Press.
